Bragging? No fact.

Ok, it must be true if it happens 4 times in a row. A proud member of the Hines VFD chili cooking team this makes 4 years in a row, Peoples Choice winner, again. As a bonus, judges awarded us first place. Good work if you can get it.
Nice work Hines VFD.

Eight gallons almost gone.

Boise lunch, stop #3, Best for last.

The best was saved for last. Mazzah  Mediterranean, voted Boise’s Best Mediterranean 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. BELIEVE IT!
Inexpensive and so Yumm-o.
Gyro Platter, falafel and Baba Ghannoj & pita ( a dip of broiled eggplant and olive oil.)

Did I mention desserts?
Baklavah......oyh!

Boise day 2, breakfast

Downtown Boise always pushes Goldy's Bistro for breakfast. It's always on the Best of Boise list. So this morning we tried the number 3 breakfast joint Moons Kitchen Cafe, also downtown.

Our choices Mushroom and Swiss Omelette, hashbrowns & rye for me,

Deb:  HoBo Benedict Biscuit Split w/ (2)Sausage Patties and  (2) Over Hard Eggs Covered with Sausage Gravy
Sorry too busy eating to remember to take the picture. Good though.
Overall, busy joint, very good but not remarkable, given enough time in my kitchen just as good.
Still a recommended stop.

Indian @ Bombay Grille, Boise, ID

Decisions, decisions. Boise, ID has a nice variety of cuisine. Tonights dinner choice, East Indian.
Bombay Grille located downtown Boise was one of the places we hadnt been before.

Selections:
Bombay Grill Platter appetizer
Samosa, pakora, chicken tikka and sheerh kebab. Served with home made chutney.

Lamb Curry
Tender morsels of lamb cooked in an onion sauce with unique blend of spices.

Saag Paneer,
Chunks of homemade cheese cooked with spinach, special herbs and spices.

OK, not the absolute best Indian food ever, but good and interesting. Service was good, place was clean. The spinach dish was pretty spicy but yum.

Now this is yummy, shrimp Ceviche. Look it up.

Cucumbers, Cilantro, Avocado, Red Onion, Shrimp, Serrano Pepper, 3 lemons, 6 limes, let it stew for a few  hours. Oh yeh.

Sorry dinner went so quick, I only got a parting shot of the remaining leftovers...trust me.

Jalapeno Poppers

My buddy, Pete, offered these up when I visited the base earlier this summer. He shared the receipe. Oh i'm glad he did. Mine were nearly as good. Thanks!  Pork fat rules the flavor trail.
Watch out for the red ones. Oh, and dont rub your eyes.

Thai-O

Found this Thai place in the mall area around the corner from Fred Meyer in Redmond. Although a little spendy as far as thai food goes, it was pretty good.
Menu choices:
Fresh Rolls - could have used some cilantro
Green Curry Pork-spicy and good
Massaman Curry Chicken-nice and tastey
Smokey chicken lunch special with thai coffee looked like this

I liked it. Oddly, the big sceen TV was tuned into the speed channel. Not overly thai like.

Now this is what Mexican food is all about

Unlike my last Mexican experience, (see rant below), this is the best Mexican food in SE Oregon. In fact there are 2 of them. Ah Chavelitas.

And this is the best chip/salsa bar at the best Mexican joint.
